About the District Export Council

District Export Councils DECs are organizations of leaders from the local business community, appointed by successive U.S. Secretaries of Commerce, whose knowledge of international business provides a source of professional advice for local firms.

For over 30 years, DECs have served the United States by assisting companies in their local communities export, thus contributing to our country’s economic growth and international competitiveness.

Closely affiliated with the Commerce Department’s U.S. Export Assistance Centers, the DECs combine the energies of exporters and export service providers who support the U.S. Government’s export promotion efforts throughout the country.

DECs volunteer their time to participate in numerous trade promotion activities.  They also supply specialized expertise to small and medium‑sized businesses that are interested in exporting.

The Northern California DEC is a diverse group of volunteer international trade professionals who meet for plenary sessions addressing international issues and awareness. Their knowledge and expertise in international business provide a source of professional advice to exporters and to the entire international trade community in Northern California from the Pacific Ocean to the Oregon and Nevada borders south past Fresno. Click here for more information regarding the current members of the Northern California DEC.
